THIS IS A LATEST NEWS UPDATE. HISTORYRIA PREVIOUS TO LOW
Doug Pederson’s status as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles is not firm, and he could be out if owner Jeffrey Lurie doesn’t trust Pederson’s vision for the team after reuniting soon, according to sources told ESPN.
Pederson and Lurie are expected to meet earlier this week in Florida after last Tuesday’s discussions did not go well, according to sources.
Lurie’s concerns go far beyond Carson Wentz, a troubled quarterback, according to sources, and there are a number of outstanding issues ranging from staff to technical staff prospects.
Pederson, who helped deliver his only Super Bowl title to Philadelphia in 2017 and guided the Eagles to the playoffs in 2017, 18 and 19, was expected to continue coaching in 2021 despite a 4-11- 1 this season.

But Lurie hasn’t been sold to this point on how Pederson plans to fix the crime and get the Eagles back on track, according to sources.
Philadelphia finished 26th in scoring (20.9 points per game) and 28th in passing yards (207.9 per game) in 2020, while Wentz fell sharply in his fifth year and was replaced by rookie Jalen Hurts as to headline the Eagles for the final four games of the season. .
Wentz has planned to ask for a trade during the off-season because his relationship with Pederson is fractured unrepaired, sources said. Confidence issues between the two work in both directions, sources said, although Pederson recently said his relationship with Wentz was fine.
🤔 If the eagles were thinking of moving on from Doug Pederson they would have already completed a list of possible replacements

Wentz has not spoken publicly since the Eagles’ season ended, and a source in the player indicated that the quarterback did not have the normal end-of-season outing interview with Pederson or staff.
While Pederson’s fragile state does not necessarily focus on Wentz’s problems, according to sources, his description when pressured about the team’s offensive identity during an internal meeting with management was “worrying.” His plan to address his coaching staff was not without urgency either, the sources added.
As for Hurts, a second-round draft pick last April, Pederson didn’t have a clear clarity on whether he had the feeling the Eagles had their quarterback of the future if the organization decides to move on from Wentz.
The handling of last Sunday night’s season finale, in which Hurts retired in favor of Nate Sudfeld in a 20-14 loss to Washington, also left questions about whether Pederson has lost the confidence of his players.
Pederson has a 46-39-1 record in five seasons with the Eagles. He became the eighth coach to win a Super Bowl in his first two years at the helm when Philadelphia defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in February 2018.
