Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia Urrutia was sworn in today, Saturday, as governor of Puerto Rico from the seat of the Supreme Court in an act that was not open to the public, but that formalizes his entry into office in the executive branch.
The activity was scheduled for 8:00 am and was led by Presiding Judge Maite Oronoz Rodriguez. The new president posted on his Twitter account the final part of his oath. The video shows his sister, Caritat Pierluisi, accompanying him.
“Very excited. I have already entrusted myself to the Lord. And again very eager to start working. Now the beginning of this new administration is formalized and as soon as I give my message, which is a message that I hope motivate our people to join these four years and make a difference, I am going to Fortaleza to work and issue executive orders so there is no time to waste, ”he said on arriving at the High Forum next to his family.

At 10:30 a.m., the first executive will participate in a protocol inauguration in front of the Capitol.
The event in front of the House of Laws will be attended by 400 people. The conglomeration in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic has been criticized by doctors and health professionals. However, the team of the first executive noted that they follow the health protocols of the Department of Health.
Wanda Vázquez Garced was sworn in as governor of Puerto Rico on August 7, 2019, almost a week after the resignation of Ricardo Rosselló Nevares.
The then secretary of the Department of Justice took office by constitutional succession after the resignation of the then governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares.
The former Women’s Attorney and former prosecutor, in principle, has indicated that she did not want to take over the government after the resignation of Roussillon Nevares.
However, Vázquez Garced changed his mind after the Supreme Court ruled that Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia’s appointment and oath as governor was unconstitutional.
Vázquez Garced was accompanied by her husband, Jorge Reverón, and her daughter Beatriu.

Ricardo Rosselló Nevares was sworn in as the 12th governor under the Constitution of the Associated Free State of Puerto Rico on January 2, 2017. The presiding judge of the Supreme Court, Maite Oronoz Rodríguez, was in charge of the oath.
Washington-based commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez accompanied Roussillon Nevares during the ceremony held on the steps of the Capitol.
The family of Rosselló Nevares, including his wife, Beatriu, and the former governor Pere Rosselló González, were also present at the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony.
Thousands of people accompanied Roussillon Nevares on his walk from the Capitol to the Fortress.
Rosselló Nevares, however, did not finish his four years in government, as the Telegram chat scandal led to protests that forced him to resign on June 24, 2019.
Alejandro García Padilla overtook Luis Fortuño, who was seeking a second term as governor, in the 2012 elections. The oath was held on January 2, 2013 at the Capitol.
García Padilla beat Fortuño in a quarrel.
Thousands of people came to the Capitol to witness the oath of office of Garcia Padilla.
The audience also accompanied him and his wife, Wilma Pastrana, on the traditional route from the Capitol to the Fortress.
García Padilla thanks the people from one of the balconies of the Fortress.
The next day, the Symphony Orchestra performed a concert in honor of García Padilla.
