Miami is a long way from Wisconsin, but that didn’t stop House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from referring to senior state senator Ron Johnson as actor Don Johnson.
The California Democrat on Thursday reported her weekly news story to Johnson, a Republican, of “taking the initiative” in the Republican Party’s response to the Jan. 6 Capitol Revolt. (…)
“Don Johnso n – was his first name Don? What is Ron?” Pelosi told reporters.
Said of the confusion between former President Donald Trump’s staunch supporter and the pastel-clad star of the 1980 series “Miami Vice,” Pelosi corrected himself as he laughed.
“Senator, let me call you. Neither “Miami Vice” nor anything like that. Don Johnson, ”Pelosi said.
“Ron Johnson seems to be taking the lead on what would be the scope of our way to protect our country from internal terrorism,” he added.
Twitter users quickly took over the slide – or lightly.
Chris ReddStars with Don Johnson and his co-star “SNL” Kenan Thompson in the sitcom of the chain “Kenan”.
“My dawg @DonJohnson in the minds of those at the top,” he said. “I love it”.
Azzzzonie posted a photo of Ferrari character Testarossa Johnson, Sonny Crockett was leading the series with a photo of the Wisconsin legislature.
“No, it’s him,” Azzzzonie said.
Kim Wexler’s ponytail said Pelosi was not wrong.
“If you think it’s an accident, you don’t know Nancy,” Ponytail said in a tweet.
Elyse said there is no comparison between the two Johnsons.
“Okay, tongue-in-cheek, but we all know that Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson), of Miami Vice, was much cooler than any politician, and he put the bad guys in jail for booting,” the post said. “She cast shadows at five, no socks, pastel dress, all hot.”
Johnson, the senator, has tried to downplay the seriousness of the Capitol riot, questioning whether mafia members were really armed and claiming that the “provocateurs” were behind the melee and not Trump supporters.
During the press conference, Pelosi blasted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who called for his proposal to appoint a Jan. 6 commission to examine the “design supporter” riot.
He said McConnell was “pulling out a page from Senator Johnson’s book.”
