Dr. Jill Biden she has said her doctorate, the subject of a controversial opinion column in the Wall Street Journal, is one of the achievements she is most proud of.
“It was a surprise,” Dr. Biden told the CBS Late Show host Stephen Colbert Thursday night, sitting next to her husband, president-elect Joe Biden. “It really was the tone of it … He called me ‘boy.’ One of the things I’m most proud of is my doctorate. I mean, I worked hard for that.”
Writing for the newspaper, Joseph Epstein, a former adjunct professor at Northwestern University, suggested that Biden’s doctorate in education from the University of Delaware did not entitle her to use the honorary “Dr.” because she was not medically qualified. His use of “Dr.” therefore “feels fraudulent, not to mention a tactile comic,” he wrote.
The column had widespread outrage and accusations of sexism, as well as indulging in the apparent hypocrisy of many attendees. right attacks.

Dr. Biden’s thesis was to maximize student retention in community universities. He also has two master’s degrees. She has said she will continue to work in education as long as she is a first lady.
“I taught eight years while I was a second lady, right,” she told Colbert, referring to the eight years her husband was vice president of barack Obama.
“I really want to be a first lady and do the things I did as a second lady. Continue with military families and education and free community college, cancer [research] you know, me and I have both worked. And then I’m going to teach too. “
She also said her husband had attended when she defended her doctoral dissertation – “I was able to deliver her doctorate on stage at the University of Delaware,” she said, and thanked those who they defended against Epstein’s attack.
“Look at all the people who came out in my favor,” he said. “I mean, I’m very grateful and I was, you know, just overwhelmed by the kindness that people had.”
The bidens talk to Stephen Colbert.
Colbert asked President-elect Biden if the column had made him want to defend his wife, “that he would like to get out of the pool chain and use Corn Pop to all these people.”
This was a reference to the statements by which Biden was criticized in the Democratic primary, when he recalled facing a bully in a Delaware pool in his youth.
Biden seemed tempted to say so, but Dr. Biden said, “The answer is no.”
Biden said, “I’ve been deleting my Irish for a long time.”
Biden was also asked if he would be willing to work with the Republicans who have attacked him and in particular his son, Hunter Biden.
“If it benefits the country, yes, I mean it,” he said. “It simply came to our notice then. That’s not to say that if I went back to high school, I wouldn’t say, ‘Come here, you know, and go for a walk.’
Perhaps feeling a relapse: Biden began his presidential career by saying he wanted to fight Donald Trump – Dr. Biden intervened again.
“But you have to take the main road,” he said.
