Perhaps the new Lost Judgment DLC suggests the future of the series

Unfortunately, the last thing we heard from the next crime fighter Judgment lost it was when a strange posture from the direction of the main star threatened the entire future of the series. So a new DLC announced for the game today is sure to have an interesting time.

As we reported last month:

In accordance with Nikkan Taishu, [Takuya] Kimura’s talent agency will not agree with the release of the game on PC, which may seem strange because the previous game was released on Stadia (but to be honest, it’s unclear if the agency understood completely the platform). The problem seems to be a proper PC version and how this would affect the management of the Kimura-like talent agency and the general displeasure of a PC-based platform.

The point of the dispute, as explained in Nikkan Taishu, is that Sega seems that the PC is vital from a business point of view. For Johnny’s, who has not yet fully embraced the Internet like others in the music business, launching a game directly online via a PC platform could be problematic for his business model. Because of this apparent disagreement, Nikkan Taishu reports that Judgment lost it is said to be the last in the series.

Judges era excellent, i Judgment lost it also looks promising, so ending the whole series because the direction of star Takuya Kimura (who plays the main character Takayuki Yagami) doesn’t understand how computers work would be a tragedy.

That’s why it’s worth thinking more about this latest DLC. Announced earlier today, provides “additional story” content where you can play some additional cases like Masaharu Kaito, Yagami’s assistant, a a big, wonderful guy that I loved so much that I put him on top of mine Judges review a few years ago.

Ara, Yakuza games are no stranger to you playing as multiple characters, but this has always been a mainstay of the base game design and the first Judges I never offered it to you, as you play only as a Yagami. So getting Sega to announce it now, so soon after the reports on the future of the series made the rounds, doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me.

If you can’t convince Kimura’s agents to relax, what better way to keep the series alive than to test the waters and see if people want to keep playing like their Kaito teammate? Especially from Kaito, with whom he is very popular Yakuza fans, it doesn’t have the real resemblance of an actor to worrying about legal reasons.

It’s not one perfect solution: from her dress to her haircut to her first cuffs, it could be argued that she is perhaps too similar to Yakuza strong Kazuma Kiryu, but as I said, I really like the guy, and maybe turn the series into his own personal growth journey is not the worst that could happen (it is certainly preferable that there are no more Trial games !).

Maybe, as a big fan of these games, I’m thinking about it too much, but I thought that given the nature of the DLC and its timing, it was worth pointing out anyway.

The Kaito DLC will be available as a standalone purchase or as part of the collector’s edition of the game.
