Remember when Peugeot said it he was returning to the US? Well, let’s just say that maybe it’s no longer a priority.
Carlos Tavares, CEO of Groupe PSA, said in 2018 that the company would make up its next generation of cars in the US. In the United States, there was only one hike, Tavares said then, now almost three full years ago.
This is what the CEO of Peugeot is saying now. From Automotive news:
“It simply came to our notice then [Peugeot’s U.S. re-entry] a year and a half ago, before Stellantis ” [Peugeot CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato] dit. “We can not ignore that Peugeot will be part of the next few days in this new world. I imagine that in the coming months due to the new strategy we will have to adapt and reconsider all the elements, including this one. ”
Imparato said it was important that the company did not overlap with the brands. He said, however, that the possible reintroduction of Peugeot into the United States was still “on the table” for the future.
These are the vague promises that make you think this may never happen and you can’t blame it. Peugeot left the United States in 1991, saying certifying their cars was too expensive and, as we know, they didn’t sell as many of them to justify the exercise anyway, nor 4,292 cars in 1990.
Now the time is, if anything, much worse. Peugeot is largely a car company, as is the case with real cars, not with big, all-terrain trucks. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if Peugeot got here in the current environment and fell flat, as gas is cheap and people still want big trucks and SUVs.
G / O Media may receive a commission
I will leave these decisions in the hands of the people who pay to make them and instead I note that Peugeot will definitely come here. interesting, about the only real thing I tend towards.
In addition, the Peugeot Sport Engineered 508 looks amazing.
