Philadelphia police are chasing suspected pirates through the city streets

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Philadelphia police have arrested a suspect who led officers in a wild high-speed chase through city streets after two car attacks on Friday night.

It happened around 8:40 p.m. on Broad Street and Erie Avenue.

Police say a City View Pizza delivery driver was performing a birth with his wife and two children, ages 4 and 2, when the suspect got into the vehicle and took off with the family still inside.

Around 10:30 p.m., the family was found safe on 21st and Spring Garden streets, but police say the suspect attacked another vehicle and took officers on a chase across the city.

Chopper 6 was on while the suspect was trying to evade officers. At one point in the chase, the suspect drove officers into the parking lot of Philadelphia Police Headquarters on Race Street.

The suspect was arrested shortly after 11pm in Franklin Square Park. It has not been identified.

No injuries were reported.
