From Tennessee to Athens, Greece, already icy temperatures have dropped even more this week as the polar vortex envelops the northern hemisphere.
In recent weeks, Moscow, Chicago, Madrid and other countries have been covered in snow, and in some cases have reported several feet of buildup. U.S. storms rose especially during the President’s Day weekend.
In Kansas City, residents have been affected by record low temperatures with a -32 degree wind chill. Officials have called for those facing the cold not to be harmed. And in Texas, millions have no energy as the power grid struggles to keep up during snow and ice storms

Athens, Greece

Ice and sleet covered Tennessee Monday, and many areas of the state accumulated two inches or more. Memphis reported more than 7 inches of snow and sleet that same day.
Snow, icy rains and more sleet in the area are expected on Wednesday, according to the Tennessean.
Seattle, Washington
Seattle broke a decade-long record this weekend, with the state reporting nearly 8.9 inches of snow on Saturday. Heavy snowfall marked the region’s twelfth largest in a single day since 1894, KOMONews reported.
Over the weekend, a 90-year-old woman reported walking six miles in the snow to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Chicago, Illinois
More than 18 inches of snow covered the city of Chicago on Saturday. According to The Chicago Tribune, the city has experienced more snow in the last three weeks than it usually sees in an entire winter.
