Pierluisi could not be sworn in on Jan. 2 if he is counting in San Juan

The electoral commissioner of the Democratic People’s Party (PPD), Gerardo “Toñito” Cruz.

In an interview with Radio Isla 1320, the official says that “the solution can not be worse than the problem.”

“If we started again, there is no way that on January 2 a governor will be sworn in. Therefore, the solution cannot be worse than the problem,” Cruz assured.

However, the election commissioner recommended establishing a panel to observe irregularities in the acts of the State Election Commission.

“The remedy may have to be a special group to look at the minutes and see how you can identify where the errors are. And if there is no other remedy, then you would look at the possibility of a remedy that is not authorized by law. We would have no choice, ”he said.
