Elected Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia Urrutia has expressed today, Sunday, that he supports the nomination of Maritere Brignoni for the Supreme Court.
In a thread on the social network Twitter, Pierluisi Urrutia posted that he hopes the Senate Chamber will properly evaluate the nominations.
“The fact that there are other people qualified for the position should not be a valid reason to reject the selection of the Governor, and on the contrary she should be given wide deference and consideration,” he added.
Pierluisi Urrutia also commented that he recognizes the work of Kermit Lucena who was appointed as comptroller by Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced.
“Our Constitution gives the Governor the power to appoint and legislators to determine whether the selected person is qualified to take office,” he explained.
