Pierluisi says interim secretary stays in Education

Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia remains adamant that graduate Jesús González remain before the Department of Education as interim secretary despite the rejection expressed by the Puerto Rican Senate.

“I have asked Licensee Gonzalez to remain in charge of the Department on an interim basis until he names the secretary in office and the Senate gives him his consent,” the first president said.

Pierluisi, who in written statements claims to recognize the right of the upper house to “express his feelings regarding the appointment,” claims to have a constitutional responsibility in which the agency “has direction at all times.”
