It has been a frustrating process for many seniors trying to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
Now, Pinellas County is making some changes in hopes of improving the process.
Instead of having to call and try to get the appointment, now the Pinellas Health Department will get in touch with the elderly when it comes to getting vaccinated.
Residents, however, must be registered.
Pinellas County began using the new software last month to try to alleviate the problems people had with the old system, which continued to fail.
The new software has not yet been hassle free.
Now, residents who are 65 or older who have previously registered will receive a text message or email as vaccine appointments become available.
Once they receive this message, they have 48 hours to book appointments for both doses of the vaccine.
The county will only contact as many people as they have vaccines available, in the order in which they signed up. Only text or email will be sent.
