Koeman talked about Piqué’s recovery
On Tuesday, coach Ronald Koeman was asked about Piqué and he gave a brief update on the possibility that the defender and Ansu Fati are ready in time for the elimination of the Champions League of FC Barcelona against Paris Saint-Germain later this month.
In the case of Gerard and Ansu, the most important thing is that they recover from their injuries. Setting a date is not good. I hope they can participate in these matches, but I can’t say because they are still recovering, so we’ll see. We know we want to have all the players available for such important matches. I hope the best for both of them because they are very important.
Barça’s options in defense
Barcelona have many defensive options if Piqué does not return in time. The defender is still a key player for the Catalans, but may no longer have the guarantee of returning directly to the starting eleven.
Uruguayan international Ronald Araujo has taken Piqué’s place in the team and has impressed so far in 2020-21. The 21-year-old has great pace, is strong in the air and has a dominant presence at the bottom line.

Araujo was guilty of a serious error that led to a goal against Eibar, but showed character in facing after the game and taking responsibility for the error, according to Sport.
The goal we conceded was shit on my part that you can’t concede. We wanted all three points, especially at home, but we played well. It was a quick play that needs to be played with two touches and I didn’t see the striker being that close.
Losing the ball there is very dangerous. It’s true that we take a lot of risks, it’s our style, but we have to have confidence and stand up. We are Barça and we have to fight to the end.
The young man’s performances have also received praise from coach Ronald Koeman. The Dutch coach gave his opinion on Araujo at a press conference prior to Barça’s victory over Elche.
Ronald gives a lot to this team. He’s played a lot of games and he’s playing really well. The role of central is a very important position. He is young and takes responsibility well. He has a lot of character, he is intense and, like everything young, there are things that need to be improved especially when he has possession of the ball. But he is doing well and has exercised at a very high level.
Araujo has formed a solid partnership with Samuel Umtiti in the Barça defense and it looks like he will have a good future ahead of him at the Camp Nou.
Therefore, Koeman has to make a difficult decision when choosing his bottom line to face the already attacking PSG of the caliber of Kylian Mbappé and Neymar.
