Platinum “Definitely” switched to Port Star Fox Zero, if given the chance

Star Fox Zero

The Nintendo Switch has seen many games brought to the Wii U generation, but one that many fans are still waiting for is Star Fox Zero. PlatinumGames noted last August that it had no idea if Nintendo would bring the game to the hybrid system, and mentioned how a future port would not even be something that is necessarily related.

Now, just over a year later, Platinum boss Atsushi Inaba has told our VGC friends how the studio is “definitely” ready to bring in the Wii U Star Fox entry, if the opportunity comes . Part of the reason Inaba wants to do this is to simply make the game available to more people:

“It’s not great that people can’t play old games because it’s off the platform, so of course, if anything was possible, we’d like to bring some of those old titles to the new platforms.

“It depends on what exists in the realm of real possibility, but yes, if the opportunity arises it’s definitely something we’d like to think about.”

If anything went ahead, Inaba says certain design decisions (referring to a question about the Wii U’s unique control scheme) probably lie with Nintendo:

“The important thing to remember is that since this is Nintendo’s IP, the ideas come from Miyamoto-san himself … if he were given the opportunity to bring Star Fox Zero back to the Switch, it would be plus a question of what I would like to do on this occasion and of course we would respect that again. “

Want to see Platinum manage a Star Fox Zero port for Switch? Did you play this game when it originally came to the Wii U in 2016? What thoughts did you have years ago? Oh, and here’s the news about Bayonetta 3.
