A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo announced the World Count Challenge for Super Mario Bros. I like, a lot.
If players around the world have collectively won 3.5 million bowsers before January 25, at 11pm, all participants who have won at least one bowser will receive 350 platinum points as a reward. The game will cease to exist on March 31, of course, so what better way to celebrate its last days than by throwing Bowser mercilessly into a lava tub over and over again? It’s what he would have wanted.
The event started on January 19, so players have taken 6 days to reach 1,498,560 Bowsers. By the way, it’s not like that in reality halfway: about 42% of the way. The remaining 2 million Bowsers killed must be reached in the next 13 hours. Is it unlikely? Well, we’ve already seen desperate victories at the last minute, right?
[update: the figure in the tweet was actually achieved on the 20th January, so the 3.5 million Bowser goal is probably well within reach. That’s much better news!]
What do you think, people? Will we scratch a victory in the last hours or will the 350 platinum reward be out of our reach?
