UPDATE: PlayStation Network services are backed up and should work as expected. If you still have problems, check out this page here.
ORIGINAL: PlayStation Network, also known as PSN, does not work on PS4 and PS5. At the time of writing, servers crashed minutes ago and right now all PlayStation platforms are affected, as are other related services, such as PlayStation Plus. The officer shared the news for the first time Fortnite Twitter account status after players began massively reporting that they could not access the free Battle Royale game on PlayStation platforms. Since then, the official PlayStation Status website has confirmed that all aspects of PSN, except PlayStation Video, are not working or have issues.
At the time of publication, it is unclear which regions are affected. Also, it’s unclear how long PlayStation gamers should wait for services to be down. That said, as long as the services don’t work, PlayStation players will be limited to offline and single player games.
Not only is it unclear to what extent the outage is extended and when a solution will be deployed, but it is unclear what causes the problem in the first place. Typically, when PSN and other similar services like Xbox Live Gold go down, it’s due to server overload, which means servers often run into problems on weekends when everyone is playing.
PlayStation Network currently has an interruption. While PlayStation is working to resolve this issue, you can stay up to date here: https: //t.co/rNAFmWENN3

At the time of posting, details about the shutdown are scarce. That said, we’ll be sure to update the story as new and official details enter. Normally, Sony is very quick to fix interruptions like this, but there have been cases where PSN has gone down and stayed idle for hours. In other words, get ready to wait until tomorrow to access PlayStation Network.
