The UFC will soon be home in front of a live audience.
The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will host UFC 264 on July 10, UFC President Dana White announced Wednesday. The event will be open to the public and tickets are expected to go on sale this week.
UFC 264 will be headed by the highly anticipated trilogy between Dustin Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC) and Conor McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC). McGregor scored a first-round tie for Poirier in UFC 178 in 2014, but Poirier demanded his revenge nearly six years later when he eliminated McGregor last January in UFC 257.
Unlike his first fight, preparation for revenge was quite friendly, with McGregor offering a generous donation to the Poirier Good Fight Foundation. But, according to Poirier, McGregor never followed through with the money, which has sparked a Twitter dispute between the two this week.
The round trip caused McGregor to threaten to fight someone, as numerous lightweights like Rafael dos Anjos and Kevin Lee jumped at the chance to throw their names in the hat. Maybe a bit of play from McGregor, but the promotion has progressed with the announcement, as the UFC will return this summer in front of a live audience in Las Vegas.
The UFC 264 range includes:
- Dustin Poirier v. Conor McGregor
- Gilbert Burns v. Stephen Thompson
- Jessica Eye vs. Jennifer Maia
- Ryan Hall Vs. Ilia Topuria
- Omari Akhmedov against Brad Tavares
- Jerome Rivera against Zhalgas Zhumagulov
- Greg Hardy v. Tai Tuivasa
