Pokémon Day is just around the corner and fans have high hopes set aside for the anniversary. The franchise turns 25 in 2021, so you can see why fans are expecting a huge celebration. It seems like some birthday events start just before the big day, and one of those celebrations comes thanks to a popularity poll.
And yes, you can enter it no matter where you are. As long as you have access to Twitter and a search engine, don’t worry. You will be able to join the Pokémon fun!
So Japan is doing another survey on who is everyone’s favorite Pokémon, this time derived solely via Twitter by people who use hashtags, including the Japanese name. For example, I would obviously choose #Celebi decided for Celebi.

It turns out that The Pokemon Company started a very popular online survey in Japan. The brand started a Twitter campaign that tracks a specific hashtag in Japanese and all fans have to do is use the word “に き め た” at the end of a specific message. You have to carry that word to the end of which Pokémon you want to vote for as a favorite, but you have to do it with the Japanese name of the monster.
So, for example, you could vote for Pikachu using these rules. You need to find the monster name in Japanese (ピ カ チ ュ ウ) and then tweet this word with a hashtag and the special Japanese word we mentioned above: # ピ カ チ ュ ウ に き め た
You can do this for any Pokémon out there as long as you follow the rules. You can send as many tweets as you want to push Pokémon and the company maintains a live balance sheet of results. If you go to this site and scroll down, you’ll find a refreshing list of the thirty most important monsters in the survey. At the time of publication of this article, Dedenne is in the first place, but the mouse has some fierce challenges coming from behind. Cinccino ranks second with Snivy and Buzzwole in third and fourth.
