The next Pokémon Unite update is all about polishing Blissey, the developers announced this morning.

Almost a month ago Blissey joined Pokémon Unite listing, amazing legions of fans waiting for Blastoise (which could be played during the pre-release beta period and finally appear in the game on September 1) to join the simplified MOBA. That said, Blissey quickly proved to be a supporting power, playing a much-needed role in the Pokémon Unite goal of granting important cures and affections to peers alike. It’s also pretty hard to kill to boot.

And tomorrow, the rich get even richer.

In addition to a general increase in Special Defense stats, Blissey’s Safeguard will also get more functionality in the next Pokémon Unite update. The move removes all status conditions from the user and a chosen ally, as well as providing a temporary buff that avoids obstacles such as Sleep and Stun. With the upgrade, the move will see its range expanded and the cooling time decreased, which means it should be able to help more teammates.

In addition, the shield granted by the Safeguard + upgrade (which Blissey unlocks when it reaches level 12) will reduce further incoming damage to affected allies after tomorrow’s upgrade.

It’s hard to say why Pokémon Unite developer TiMi Studio Group felt that these fans were needed. Blissey is already one of the best Pokémon in the game thanks to filling a niche that barely existed before his arrival and his equipment is a great help in the skirmishes of the teams. These improvements could be aimed at attracting players who would otherwise be focused on facing the front line or perhaps a way to prevent it from being overshadowed by last week’s long-awaited Blastoise debut.

In any case, it’s easy to see how Blissey becomes a key pillar Pokémon Unite competition after this update. It may be pretty, but it’s a nightmare when a player on the other team knows what they’re doing to her. Be afraid, be very afraid.

He the next ones Pokémon Unite updates include incorporating mobile platforms on September 22, as well as adding new playable characters like Sylveon and Mamoswine, release dates for which they still remain.
