Police: 32-year-old man arrested for allegedly entering more than 1,000 unlocked vehicles | Southeastern Pennsylvania

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. – A man has been arrested and charged with theft, robbery and related crimes. Buckingham police say the man is believed to have entered more than 1,000 unlocked vehicles.

Keard Johnson, 32, of Yardley, was reportedly involved in robberies in 13 Bucks County and 10 New Jersey counties, according to police.

Authorities say the surveillance video and a combined investigation with many agencies led them to the suspect.

In mid-February 2020, Buckingham Township began experiencing overnight thefts from unlocked vehicles. Several of these robberies occurred between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. A surveillance video of these robberies was obtained and the actor was seen wearing a “leggings” -type mask, dark snow pants, gloves and carrying a suitcase, according to police.

According to police, over the next few months many Bucks County municipalities were also experiencing the same type of burglary with the same actor in a surveillance video.

Information about these thefts was shared with the Pennsylvania and New Jersey police departments.

In October 2020, members of the task force found a stolen New Jersey credit card that was being used at a Pennsylvania convenience store, according to police.

In January 2021, the investigation identified Johnson as a possible suspect. Information was developed that led to the execution of two (2) search warrants, the last at Johnson’s residence in Yardley, according to police.

Police said currency, handbags, gift cards and dozens of other goods were confiscated as a result of the search warrant.

The investigation continues as more information develops, according to police.

Authorities say Johnson’s arrest was made possible with the cooperation of many police agencies.
