MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police have set up a perimeter in a residential neighborhood in southwest Miami-Dade on Monday morning after investigators said a man was shot at his home Monday morning.
The scene is on SW 107th Terrace, next to SW 138th Avenue. Miami-Dade County police say preliminary information indicates a man entered the home and shot the victim, who was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
According to police, the suspect in the shooting is still at large.
A neighbor tells Local 10 News that she woke up shortly after 5 a.m. to go for a run and hear loud noises.
“Boom, boom,” he said, describing the noise. “I thought it was a transformer and that the electricity would go out at any moment.”
He says he looked outside and saw a car speeding away and then realized the noise was something else.
“It had to be a rifle. He was powerful and strong, ”he said.
Several officers remained at the scene, and Miami-Dade police said the hammock district is still investigating.
