Police are expected to reinstall the fences around the Capitol building ahead of a Sept. 18 rally amid fears of renewed violence, according to a source familiar with the request.

The Capitol building and the immediate streets of the Supreme Court are expected to be closed before the rally, AP first reported on Wednesday. However, nearby congressional buildings are not expected to have fences along their perimeters. The AP noted that, however, plans have yet to be finalized.
Lawmakers are expected to receive information on security measures soon, the wiring service noted.
After the January 6 uprising, police installed protective fences around the building for months, a nefarious symbol that dominated residents and lawmakers. In February, at least more than 40 Republican lawmakers had sent a letter to Pelosi calling for the withdrawal of fencing.
However, it was not until July when the last remaining fencing was withdrawn.
Police agencies have said they are on high alert ahead of the September rally.
“We are watching closely on September 18 and we are planning accordingly. After January 6, we made changes to the entire department in the way we gather and share intelligence internally and externally. I am confident that the work we are doing now will give our officers what they need to protect everyone, “Chief Tom Manger told The Hill in a statement last week.
