Police chase in several counties ends with a driver going to Orange County Walmart – NBC Los Angeles

Police chase of an unregistered black Mercedes Benz began in Riverside County, before ending Monday night with the driver chasing inside an Orange County Walmart.

Newschopper4 was about to chase around 10:30 p.m. in the Anaheim Hills area, with a black car traveling at slow speed on Highway 91 heading west.

The chase began at 9:57 p.m., Riverside police said. The chase began related to a violation of the vehicle code. Riverside police said the car was missing license plates and had three people inside when the chase began, but a passenger got out of the chase vehicle in Riverside.

The car was traveling at a speed of about 55 mph on the highway, so it was not a high-speed chase.

Around 10:47 p.m., the car veered off the highway toward shallow streets in the Buena Park area and began to drive slightly more erratically, stopping occasionally abruptly.

At one of these stops, the black car stopped in the middle of the street, before a rear passenger door opened and a woman jumped out of the car.

Shortly after 11pm, the driver entered the Westminster shopping center, before getting on the curb and pulling the car directly in front of the main entrance of a Walmart before running inside.

About five or ten minutes later, police appeared to have arrested someone in a nearby corner. The Anaheim police department confirmed that the detained man was believed to be the driver of the chase and that he was arrested.
