Police confirmed this afternoon in a press conference that David Emanuel Rivera Batiz’s body was found yesterday in Santurce, he was the perpetrator of the shooting that killed the three officers last Monday in Carolina.
Rivera Batiz, 25, had been identified as a native of Ponce and was found on Calle San Jose, intersection with the marginal Muñoz Rivera with a sign that said “I am responsible for the murder of the guard … Here it is”.
“Today we will present both photos linking the individual who was found in the Santurce area and the person responsible for the commission of these murders,” said the commissioner of the police negotiator, Antonio López Figueroa.
Agents Luis Salaman Conde, Eliezer Hernández Cartagena and Luis Marrero Díaz died at the hands of Rivera Batiz who fired without saying anything against the agents in an event that began as a vehicular intervention in front of the Món Feliç condominium.
He allegedly stole the white Hyundai Accent from where he opened fire with a rifle at officers.
López Figueroa added that “without a doubt” he is responsible.
The commissioner assured that this investigation will remain open for any further evidence that may arise.
Police conducted two rounds of confrontation with photographs that allowed identification.
Rivera Batiz was a member of the FARC in Ponce and police confirmed he is linked to the murder of Pinky with many curves last October.
The young man’s mother was said to have been the one who identified his body in Forensic Sciences after being found on Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, “there was never any doubt” that he was the culprit.
