MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Southwest Miami-Dade County police are investigating a shooting in the morning.
Authorities said three people were shot dead Saturday, one of whom was pronounced dead.
Relatives told Local 10 that the shooter and the victims are family members.
He passed inside a home and police remained active in the area while searching for the person who pulled the trigger.
Miami-Dade police responded to the home near 294th Street and 142nd Avenue following reports of gunfire shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived, they discovered that three people had been shot and one had died.
“The other adult male and adult female were transported by Miami Dade fire rescue to a hospital in the critical condition area,” Miami-Dade police detective Kristopher Welch said.
The surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows a neighbor helping an injured woman escape the violence.
“I think he reacted like a hero because he lied to her and helped put her there without endangering her life,” said Julio Magallan, whose son-in-law is seen in the video helping the woman who had been shot .

Police said the 18-year-old gunman ran out of the house, prompting officers to quickly set up a perimeter while searching for the suspect.
For hours, officers combed the southwest neighborhood of Miami Dade by air and ground for the man the police believed to be armed and dangerous.
“Miami-Dade police recovered two firearms on the scene,” Det said. Welch. “Although we cannot rule out the possibility that the subject will remain armed.”
As the search continued, detectives collected clues and worked to find out what led to the shooting.
“There was a verbal dispute inside the residence that escalated and sparked shootings,” Det said. Welch.
Investigators said the gunman knew his victims and relatives reported to local 10 that they were family members.
Roy Ramos, a 10-year-old local, spoke with Mike Baker, the suspect’s uncle. Baker said he is still trying to understand why, he said, his nephew, identified as Ruben, opened fire on his own relatives.

“My nephew shot my dad and my sister,” Baker said. “Now I just feel like my sister’s son is supposed to be dead.”
Police have not yet released a description of the suspect.
Baker’s message to his nephew was to stop running away from the police.
“I don’t want anyone to hurt you, but whatever you’ve done, you have to come in, nephew,” Baker said.
