The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Conchester Road, near Cherry Tree Road, according to authorities.
The road was closed in both directions after the accident.
The Chopper 6 showed severe damage to both vehicles, but no injury information was obtained immediately.
“It was weird. It was crazy,” said Brey Dalton, who works at Exxon on 2400 Market Street and witnessed the crash.
Police say he was responding to a report of disorderly conduct.
Upper Chichester police say the sergeant boss. Ken Massey saw the suspect trying to get a woman out of a car at the gas station.
Officials say there was a conflict with Massey, who tried to deploy his taser, but the suspect was too close.
The suspect managed to evade the officer and jumped into the police SUV. Dalton explained what he saw next.
“The next thing I know, I see the police car shoot, and it hits a truck coming into the ground … and it takes off,” Dalton said. “I’m thinking a cop hit someone and came out.”
Police say the driver of this truck tried to stop the suspect but to no avail.
Investigators say the suspect fled at high speed down Market Street and then west on 322, where he collided with another vehicle after police said he crossed the median.
Ryan Shomo, who also witnessed the incident, works near the crash site.
“Probably the worst car accident I’ve ever seen. The car is just bad,” Shomo said. The front behind “.
The officer was treated and released from a local hospital, officials say.
Police do not disclose the suspect’s name. He faces a number of possible charges, including aggravated assaults and car theft.
“I saw the cops shooting at people, but nothing like that … nothing like that,” Dalton added.
A 47-year-old woman who was traveling in the other vehicle involved in the accident is in serious condition, according to officials.
The suspect is in critical condition at the last check.
The investigation is ongoing.
