Unlike previous games in the series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons it was very “incomplete” when it was released in March. In a move that annoyed time travelers around the world, Nintendo made the decision to launch annual events in the game through year-round updates.

While this had the advantage of keeping monthly news about the games through sites and social media, it also prevented the guide and video makers from heading to the events and spilling the big months ahead of their debut. dictated by the calendar.

But what has been your favorite 2020 event in New Horizons? Well, there’s a poll that asks you just that question at the bottom of the page, but first we get a quick rundown of all the events, big and small, that came to the desert islands of Switches around the world.

The first appearance after the game was released on March 20, 2020 was Bunny Day, a twelve-day event that had Zipper T. Bunny send you on an egg hunt. For many players, many eggs arrived too soon after the game was released. We still settled to the beat of things, tried to catch fish and dig up fossils and half the time we ended up with a bloody egg.

To be fair, younger players used to enjoy egg hunting, although we were glad to see the back of it.

Then the last week of April was the return of Leif, the lazy man and his bushes for the Nature Day event, another “day” that lasted almost a fortnight. Halfway through this was the May Day event, which marked the return of the local rover Rover (okay, the “return” could be a bit strong; “the appearance of the cameo” is more next) to the only maze tour on May 1st.

The second half of May featured the International Museum Day Event which commissioned you to collect stamps around the museum to collect three plaques related to fish, fossils and bedbugs. They were also very nice, although completing the Stamp Rally other days only got you identical plates. The walls of our bathroom were filled with them.

The whole month of June was dedicated to the wedding season and while it was great to photograph ReTail lovers Cyrus and Reese on Harv Island for the first time, 30 days of doing the same drained our enthusiasm. . The four Bug-Offs and Fishing Tourneys spread throughout the year were much less cumbersome.

Sunday evenings throughout the month of August were enlivened by the fireworks that came to the July update. You can make custom fireworks to fill the night sky with your bespoke designs and participate in the Redd raffle to win prizes that are not available anywhere else.

The October Halloween event saw the return of Jack, the Halloween tsar, to the fall update, which also added new makeup options, costumes and pumpkins. Franklin returned to the series in time to celebrate Thanksgiving-themed Turkey Day, with Toy Day recently Christmas Eve.

There are more events to come in the new year, of course, and March 20, 2021 will mark exactly one year of events. It will be very interesting to see if next year’s replays are altered in some way, perhaps to offer players returning new rewards or to make adjustments based on last year’s comments. We would definitely welcome a small equipable item that would automatically stir the eggs into the water while we tried to fish.
