Yeah yeah some continued ambiguity in Microsoft’s wording, but many PlayStation fans will likely be caught in the first stage of the pain: denial. Phil Spencer and his cohorts could probably still be one little clearer, but the writing appears on the wall: once Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo are released, outside of ongoing service games like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online, a Bethesda game will not be re-released on a platform PlayStation.
This is a disruptive and hugely disappointing development, which threatens to upset the status quo of the industry. While there’s nothing surprisingly open: Bethesda was a publisher that published commercial classics on a regular basis, meaning that the overall PlayStation 5 software list is destined to be weaker overall. You may have your own opinions about the Fallout, DOOM, and The Elder Scrolls franchises, but they are certainly the important franchises to miss.
