Pope receives the presidency of the Slovak Republic at the Vatican

Pope Francis welcomed President Susannah Čaputov to the audience on Monday morning and then met with the Secretary of State for Relations with the Vatican.

Pope Francis received Slovakia President Susanna Saputova as an observer at the Vatican on Monday.

Following the audience with the pope, Sabutova met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary of State for Vatican Affairs.

In a statement following the audience, the Holy See Press Office said, “During the goodwill discussion at the State Secretariat, the existing good bilateral relations were praised, with the hope that they could be further strengthened in the field of education, regarding the role of the Church in the community. ”

Also discussed were “issues of mutual interest such as the impact of the Govt-19 epidemic, social justice and the protection of creation”.

Finally, the press office said, “The parties focused on issues of a regional and international nature, namely efforts at the multifaceted level of security, migration and conflict prevention and resolution, particularly on the current and future challenges in Europe. . ”
