The Vatican announced on Saturday the change of plans of the Pope, Reuters reported. One event will be missed on January 24 and two events on January 25.
He planned to take part in two religious ceremonies, conducting a Mass on Sunday at St. Peter’s Basilica and attending an evening service on Monday in a church in Rome. He was also scheduled to speak Monday at an annual speech to a diplomatic corps. It will be postponed to a later date, depending on the cabling service.
The pope has been suffering from sciatica for a long time, but has not missed many events due to the disease, which affects the sciatic nerve and causes pain from the lower back to the leg.
The P, 84 years oldope also missed a religious service during the New Year holidays due to the pain of illness.
Francis attends physical therapy for his condition, which causes him trouble walking sometimes, according to Reuters.
