The mayor of Villalba and president of the Association of Mayors, Luis Javier Hernández Ortiz, Has announced that the 41 associate mayors unanimously determined to implement their own Executive Order with more restrictions for COVID-19 in the face of their dissatisfaction with what was announced yesterday by Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia.
“While we are grateful that the Governor has embraced some of the recommendations that the Association of Mayors of Puerto Rico issued yesterday, we understand there should be greater restriction on airports, beaches, rivers, spas, strengthen oversight of the “Executive order, and extend the schedules and conduct of both vaccines and testing of Covid-19,” said Hernandez.

- Municipal employees and government offices must move to virtual mode at those non-essential dawns. Those who are not essential, and who cannot work remotely, will proceed with the enjoyment of the accumulation of compensatory time, as a first instance, or accumulated vacation leave.

- They will not give exemptions or permits for any kind of social activity.
- Cancellation of all municipal activity and the use of public and communal spaces, which tend to crowd people, including festivals, carnivals, tournaments, retreats, among others.
Shops that do not comply with the provisions will be closed for one month.
In addition, they state that they will require the state government to start a mass vaccination campaign with no time limit (24/7). Ensuring an equitable distribution in each municipality, and the regulation of entry of travelers to country conditioned to a negative molecular test.
