Postpone launch of first Puerto Rican satellite due to bad weather in Florida | current events

The first Puerto Rican satellite was scheduled to go into space at 3:37 a.m. today, Saturday, but weather conditions in Cape Canaveral, Florida delayed the mission.

the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) postpone the launch of Puerto Rico CubeSat NanoRocks-2 (PR-CuNaR2) just minutes from the scheduled time. Now, he plans to do it tomorrow Sunday, Aug. 29 at 3:14 p.m.

The PR-CuNaR2 will be transported and launched from the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, into the SpaceX23 Dragon capsule to the International Space Station.

this satellite developed and built by students of the Bayamón School of Engineering (INTER), together with his professor, Amílcar Racó Charris, they are part of NASA’s Elana 36 project in English.

The team that developed the project chose the 56º orbit to place the PR-CuNaR2 and that it could pass over Puerto Rico twice a day for 10 minutes. In this way, the satellite will pass through Puerto Rico more times than in other orbits.

Also, about 65 students, both women and men, have been part of the development of the PR-CuNaR2 that began in March 2018 although the prototype of the design and construction began in 2013.
