“Potential Joker” of the Knights to participate in a Ben Simmons trade

Now that the Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has let it be known that he wants to leave and wants to be changed from the city of brotherly love, now the question is where will Simmons end up?

The main teams involved for Simmons have been the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Toronto Raptors, as these two teams have been the most persistent. There were talks about the involvement of the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings, but it is likely that the Warriors will not get involved while the Kings do not want to include De’Aaron Fox or Tyrese Haliburton.

At a roundtable at The Athletic, Derek Bodner formed a team that President Daryl Morey could get involved with and that is the Cleveland Cavaliers:

I think Cleveland is potentially a wildcard. But I think what’s perhaps more interesting than the new teams that can get into Simmons ’bidding war is what Morey’s teams will be able to achieve to get a three (or four) team deal. This could end up being the key for all teams to leave feeling comfortable with the trade.

It definitely couldn’t be an individual exchange against Cavaliers and Sixers. There are some solid young pieces on Cleveland’s roster, but they probably won’t be enough to drive away a young star like Simmons. This is where the other teams would come in for Morey (who isn’t afraid to pact with multiple teams) to get the traffic he’d like for the 3-All-Star.
