Power outages in Texas: Katy and Bryan residents use Ford F-150 truck generators to power homes amid winter storms

HOUSTON (KTRK) – As jeans face catastrophic events around the winter storm, a handful of people who lost power at home have used the 2021 Ford F-150 with a built-in Pro Power Onboard generator to overcome the worst.

They include residents Katy and Bryan.

Katy’s Randy Jones was powerless from Sunday to Wednesday. He fed appliances into the house by plugging the extension cords directly into the truck’s bed.

Bryan’s Dan Basile has power now, but he had been using the 2021 F-150 he had just bought to heat his home during blackouts.

The stories of both men were shared on a forum for F-150 enthusiasts.

Pro Power Onboard means F-150 customers can access an integrated power generator. Pro Power Onboard is available in the new F-150 2021 models. Power is accessible through cabin outlets and up to four 20-volt, 120-volt outlets mounted on a cargo bed.
