Pregnant woman and her baby die after she was shot last night in Ciales

The pregnant woman who was shot during the shooting that ended her partner’s life yesterday in Ciales died, as did her baby, police confirmed.

Agent Wanda Vázquez Cabrera, from Arecibo district, told him The New Day that Dr. Maria Lozada, who treated the young woman at the Pedres River Medical Center, certified the death of Joanmarie Lozada Rivera, 23, at 10:15 a.m.

According to the officer, Lozada Rivera, who was six months pregnant, had a cesarean section to save her baby, but the baby died later at 11:05 am

The woman had been shot during a shooting in the Hato Vell neighborhood, La Grama sector, PR-149, in Ciales, according to police.

According to authorities, a call alerted the 9-1-1 Emergency System about detonations at the site, so officers rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, the troops found at the scene a Héctor Elías Molina Colom, 22 years old, inside a white Suzuki XL7 car from 2003. The man’s body had multiple bullet impacts that killed him on the spot.

Police are analyzing the crime as a triple murder and reported that the number of violent deaths so far this year is 132, about eight less than last year to date.
