President Hernandez votes and says primary elections will be ‘better than expected’

The President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez, moved to his hometown Thank you, Lempira in the west of the country to vote on March 14 in the primary election.

Hernández stated that in this process where he does not run for any popular election he recalls with gratitude the support of the town of Lempira.

Hernandez reiterated that his security efforts have had a “high cost” for him but the results have been worthwhile.

“I ask them to go and ask the candidates at the end of these primary elections if they are willing to pay the high cost of fighting crime and fighting head-on with drug traffickers and corrupt, “he said.

The president, who did not reveal which National Party movement he voted for, was accompanied by the first lady, Ana Garci’a de Hernandez and of his presidential guard.

According to the electoral agenda, voting will end at 4:00 pm, although if necessary in some centers, due to the influx of voters, it would be extended by one more hour.
