Prince Harry takes on a new job as a tech startup executive

Prince Harry has taken on a new job as an executive at a Silicon Valley startup.

The recent Royal Franc became head of impact for BetterUp Inc., an online coaching and mental health company.

The company, valued at $ 1.73 billion, refused to disclose the prince’s compensation package, but on Tuesday already had it included on the online list as part of its “leadership team,” acclaiming it as “military veteran, mental well-being advocate and environmentalist.” ”

Harry first confirmed his new job in an email exchange with the Wall Street Journal.

“I intend to help create an impact on people’s lives,” Harry, 36, told the newspaper about the job.

“Proactive coaching provides endless possibilities for personal development, greater awareness and a better, global life.”

The prince has already revealed plans to work with mental health issues and his wife, Meghan Markle, admitted this month to Oprah Winfrey that she had felt suicidal while trapped in the royal family.

Harry said that a couple of months ago he personally used the BetterUp app and one of its 2,000 coaches.

“They matched me with my coach who, frankly, is really amazing and has always given me solid advice and a new perspective, which is so valuable,” he told the WSJ.

“It’s about recognizing that it’s not so much what happens to us, but rather what has happened to us throughout our lives,” Harry said.

“Often due to social barriers, financial hardship or stigma, too many people cannot focus on their mental health until they are forced to. I want us to get away from the idea that you have to feel broken before you seek help, ”he said.

BetterUp CEO Alexi Robichaux declined to reveal details of Harry’s labor deal or how he was being compensated, the WSJ said.

But “it’s a significant and meaty role,” Robichaux told the prince’s diary that he joined the company’s management team as a “corporation officer.”

“It’s synonymous with this approach to mental form and you really invest in yourself,” Robichaux said. “It wasn’t a hard internal sale.”

Harry is expected to be involved in initiatives such as decisions about product strategies and charitable contributions, and will publicly advocate for mental health issues.

Finally, Harry is expected to spend time at the company’s San Francisco headquarters, attend meetings by hand and be a special guest at the company’s events, Robichaux said.

Since leaving life as a senior family member last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have used their new freedom to sign a $ 100 million deal with Netflix and launch a podcast, Archewell Audio, with Spotify.

Although he has no technology experience, Harry is unlikely to have trouble getting guidance, his new boss said.

“Obviously he will have the whole organization running to help him,” Robichaux said.
