Prince Harry is expected to attend the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip in the UK, marking his first trip home since he famously left the royal family, a source told The Post Friday.
But it’s unclear whether Meghan Markle, who is pregnant, who will have to come with the couple’s second child in early summer, will join Harry, even though she wants to be by his side, the source said.
His ability to fly for nearly 12 hours from the Sussex home in California to England will depend on his doctor’s orders and the air carrier’s guide, the source added.
But Harry would not miss the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh for the world.
“Harry was extremely close to his grandfather,” a royal UK source told The Post. “Of course it will be there, no matter how difficult the relationship between the Sussex and the family.”
Harry’s long-awaited return to his home country comes after he and Markle separated from the royal family in January 2020, and weeks after his interview with Oprah Winfrey, who stormed Buckingham Palace.
For two hours without sitting down, Markle revealed that someone in the royal family was wondering how dark Archie’s son’s skin might be.
In February, Harry said he keeps in touch with his grandparents through Zoom.
“We’ve expanded them a few times,” he told James Corden, the talk show host. “They’ve seen Archie running around here.”
The Duke of Sussex laughed as he remembered that instead of clicking to leave the call, Prince Philip would turn off the laptop.
“He just does ‘doof’!” Harry said, imitating that he was closing a laptop.
All members of the royal family are expected to attend the funeral of Prince Philip at Windsor Castle amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with a service at St George’s Chapel, where Harry and Meghan were married in 2018.
A Sussex representative was not available for comment.
