More and more details are coming to light at Prince Philip’s funeral, which will take place next Saturday, April 17 at St George’s Chapel, located in Windsor Castle. According to international media reports, the funeral service of the Duke of Edinburgh will be very close to what was his will in life.
What some didn’t know was Felipe’s fondness for the carmaker Land Rover. It all started when in 1953 he received a Series 1 model from the brand, which was the last vehicle he drove until he retired from the roads after suffering an accident in January 2019. His passion for this car was so big that he even adapted it, alongside a group of engineers, especially to transport his coffin.
The vehicle will move at a brisk pace across the castle grounds prior to the funeral, from the state entrance to St George’s. The prince’s coffin will be covered with a wreath, his cap and Navy commander’s swords. The hearse will be followed by the four children she bore alongside Isabel II, Charles, Anna, Andrew and Edward, as well as their partners. Her grandchildren, Princes William and Harry, will also attend, although Meghan will not be present given her pregnancy status. In total, only about 30 people will attend the funeral due to the measures imposed by the pandemic.
“Members of the Royal Family and the Duke of Edinburgh’s House will walk behind the coffin from the Quadrangle, Chapel Hill to the Horseshoe Cloister. Funeral service will begin with a National Minute of Silence at 3pm local time, ”the royal family posted on its official website.
