Prosecute 6 men for planning the Michigan governor’s secret

Traverse City, Michigan – Investigating jury accused six men of conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in an apparent plot by anti-government extremists angered by the official’s policies in front of coronavirus.

The indictment issued Thursday by federal prosecutor Andrew Birge went to conspiracy against Adam Dean Fox, Barry Gordon Croft Jr., Ty Gerard Garbin, Kaleb James Franks, Daniel Joseph Harris and Brandon Michael-Ray Caserta. All are from Michigan, except Croft, who lives in Delaware.

The charge carries a maximum life sentence, Birge said in a statement.

The six were arrested in early October following an FBI investigation into an alleged plot to kidnap the Democratic governor at her vacation home in northern Michigan.

The lawyers said their clients were “just talking too much” and did not intend to carry out the alleged plan.

The formal indictment repeats the allegations during a hearing in October, where Agent Richard Trask testified that the men were involved with paramilitary groups.

Fox and Croft attended a June meeting in Dublin, Ohio, at which the possible secrecy of governors and other actions was discussed, given the indictment. During the hearing, Trask said Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam was among those mentioned as potential targets.
