Prosecutor Francis Valerio said Tuesday that Sanchez Ramirez, provincial deputy Sadoky Duarte, was protecting a “Recognized criminal” referred to as “Facobra” when breaking into a National Police operation and physically assaulting police officer Disleidy Heredia Figueroa.
According to the prosecutor, “Facobra” has an arrest warrant for the Gender Violence Unit, and is being investigated by the Public Ministry for the sale and trafficking of drugs and controlled substances.
Valerio narrated the situation in which the deputy showed an “aggressive attitude” and insisted that the authorities release three people who were detained in a van for “provoking situations.”
The incident occurred around 6:45 pm in the municipality of Cotuí, Sánchez Ramírez province, where police officers commanded by Colonel De la Cruz were conducting a business surveillance operation to confirm whether they complied with the provisions of the decree 628-2020.
The prosecutor noted that when they were near the house of deputy Duarte they observed that there were five people with a “suspicious” profile, which they undertook the escape as soon as authorities sent to stop a Chevrolet brand car in which one of the individuals had thrown an unknown object.
“We stopped to search the vehicle. One of the people threw an unknown object into the vehicle, the ‘lacquer and they ran out. They escaped through the neighborhood of a house, we tracked him down because we had no order to search the house“, He expressed.
The prosecutor indicated that the legislator appeared at the time the car was confiscated and noticed that there were three people arrested, so he demanded that the police “get these people out (of the van)”.
In response to this request from Duarte, the prosecutor replied “deputy now we can’t go down to the police right now and we’ll talk about it there”.
“(…) because he insulted me, he went over to me and Colonel De la Cruz intervened and managed to avoid the aggression that was going to infer me,” said Valerio.
The magistrate explained that a few minutes after the assault on the police officer, a stranger began throwing stones and bottles from the courtyard of the house, so they could not open the vehicle and had to withdraw from the site.
Nevertheless, the aggression did not culminate in the street Father Fantino of the sector the Cajuiles, since according to the public prosecutor Valerio an hour later Deputy Duarte presented himself to the National Police and threatened and insulted him for not “handing over to him the boys” who were in custody.
“He told me that I was going to see him with him, that he was going to make me a report so that they could cancel me and move me from here, that he was an elected deputy for the people by votes and I was a prosecutor,” added Valerio.
Situation of the deputy
When asked what legal action will be taken against a legislator, Valerio stressed that as deputy Duarte has privilege of jurisdiction, But, the MP lodged a complaint which will be processed for the corresponding purposes.
Also the level of the National Police that was attacked by a blow to the face, Disleidy Heredia Figueroa, filed a formal complaint against Deputy Duarte last Monday.
In the other hand José Ignacio Pallissa, Administrative Minister of the Presidency, expressed that will subdue Duarte’s expulsion from the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
