Protesters for and against the president Donald Trump they clashed with each other and with police officers in Pacific Beach, San Diego (Southern California), and at least three were arrested for refusing to leave the site after “due to acts of violence “declared the meeting illegal.

With Congress taking to Washington by Trump supporters this Wednesday still fresh in the memory, pTrump insiders took part this Saturday afternoon (Pacific time) in a “Patriotic March” in defense of “our republic, our Constitution and our freedom.”

According to local television channels, anti-Trump groups called on people to stand in the same place to prevent the “fascist demonstration” and the two groups ended up engaged in a fight, so the police had to intervene to separate them and then to move them away from the place.

According to the San Diego Police Department, protesters threw stones, bottles, eggs and other objects at officers and sprayed them with pepper.

In their messages the police did not specify whether it was just one of the groups or both who attacked the riot police sent to the site.

About three hours after the start of the demonstrations, police managed to completely evacuate the area.

“We will always facilitate peaceful protests, but we will not tolerate acts of violence,” wrote police on a Twitter.

A police spokesman told the local NBC network that three people were arrested.

The San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper counted about a hundred protesters on each side and claimed police took him “hours” to monitor the situation.

Some of the anti-Trump protesters wore T-shirts with legends of the Antifa organization and the Black Lives Matter movement.

According to the newspaper, the “Patriotic March” was convened days before the capture of Congress in Washington by Trump supporters.

Congressional assailants had previously attended a rally at which the president urged them to march to the Capitol, Where at the time the two chambers were holding meetings to certify Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the November election.

Democrats and Republicans have been blamed for what happened to Trump, who claims without evidence that he was the victim of an electoral “theft” and may face a political trial in Congress before Biden takes office on Jan. 20.
