PS5 and Xbox Series X stocks are getting the worst news

If you haven’t been able to track a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X / S since both platforms were launched in late 2020, a new report has been released stating that actions may not improve in the near future. In fact, if current trends continue the same as over the last year or so, the shortage of the two next-generation consoles may continue well into 2023.

The news of this continuing shortage of consoles comes through a new Bloomberg report. In statements to the director of Toshiba, which is a Japanese company that creates chips that are used in the manufacture of video game consoles, it was explained that the chips could be difficult to obtain. In fact, Toshiba CEO Takeshi Kamebuchi explained that “the supply of chips will remain very tight until at least September next year” and also added that “some customers will not be fully serviced until 2023.” So in short, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X could continue to see infrequent replacements for most of next year.

Despite these shortages, Kamebuchi went on to say that console makers such as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are the ones in the most “serious” situations and are asking for priority when it comes to chip availability. “Gaming console manufacturers are among the customers who make the most demands and I sincerely feel their frustration as none of them have 100% satisfaction,” Kamebuchi said. While Toshiba itself is clearly trying to get these chips in the hands of customers, there are only so many things they can do, especially considering the current state of the world.

The highlight of this whole situation is that it is said that Toshiba will increase its production pipelines in the coming years, which means that such shortage problems should move into the past as we move forward. However, in the short term, it may be a while before you start watching the PS5 or Xbox Series X consoles appear on the shelves of your local retail chains.

Have you ever been able to buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X for yourself? And what do you think about the scarcity of these parts that can continue until 2023? Let me know in the comments or send me a Twitter message at @ MooreMan12.
