Thomas Tuchel was left out of the PSG, as officially announced by the PSG club and the club does not yet have the name of his successor
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made official on Tuesday the dismissal of their coach, the German coach Thomas Tuchel, Half a year after the end of his last season with the club in the French capital.
The club said in a statement that the decision, advanced last week by the media, it is taken “after an in-depth analysis of his sporting situation.”
The president of the PSG, Nasser Al-Kheläifi, thanked the coach for “everything he has contributed to the club”, in particular his energy and passion at work, according to this note in which the name of his successor is not confirmed.
Tuchel, 46, arrived on the bench at the Parisian club in July 2018 as a replacement for Spaniard Unai Emery and after driving for three years at Borussia Dortmund.
In that time, as PSG recalled, he has accumulated 95 wins, 12 draws and 20 defeats, in all competitions.
Tuchel leaves the PSG bench having won two French leagues (2019 and 2020), a Cup (2020), a League Cup (2020) and two Super Cups (2018 and 2019), in addition to ‘having taken on PSG, last August, in their first Champions League final, in which they lost to Bayern Munich.
Despite this balance, the relationship with the club has been deteriorating throughout the season, especially with the sporting director, the Brazilian Leonardo.
The drop that seems to have spilled the glass of patience of the Qatari owners of the entity have been statements made by the coach on German television “Sport 1” in which he said, among other things, that PSG did not behave as a great club.
The Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, who played for PSG between 2001 and 2003 and who has not coached for a year after his departure from Tottenham, is, according to various local media, the favorite to take over the team from now on.
If the news is confirmed, it would be the fourth team coached by Pochettino, having made his debut for Espanyol, who led between 2009 and 2012, Southampton, between 2013 and 2014, and Tottenham, between 2014 and 2019, in which led to the 2019 Champions League final, which they lost to Liverpool.
The 48-year-old Argentine coach has made no secret of his desire to coach for a day at PSG, one of the most prestigious clubs in which he has played.
