Some cynics believe that in the ongoing dispute over Messi’s future, Mbappe made a gesture to suggest that he would be willing to play for the same team as the Argentine.
Still, it’s not new for Mbappe to publicly express his respect for the game’s legends.
After France faced Portugal, Mbappe re-posted on social media, this time with photos next to it Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Idol,” Mbappe wrote at the time, wearing a goat emoji and a king’s crown.
After the match against Barcelona in Paris, Mbappe changed his shirt with a teenage star Pedri.
