Public Works will build a new bridge over the Ozama River and widen Ecological Avenue

The extension and widening of roads, as well as the construction of a new bridge that connects Santo Domingo Est with the National District, are some of the infrastructures that the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) intends to develop in the coming years.

The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascenció, announced this Wednesday the construction of different projects aimed at improving vehicular traffic in the Gran Santo Domingo.

One of the infrastructures will be a new bridge that will connect the municipality of Santo Domingo Est with the National District, Which will be built on the Ozama River, connecting Manuela Deu and Puerto Rico streets, the latter in the Ozama Eixample, in Santo Domingo Est.

Likewise, Ascenció foresees to prolong the ecological Avenue, until connecting with the Caucedo logistics Port; as well as the construction of the circumvallation of the Alcarrizos.

The plan also includes connecting Charles De Gaulle Avenue, from the Crossing of Lost Savannah, with the La Victòria municipal district.

He also said they intend to extend Avenida Jacobo Majluta to connect with the Duarte Highway, as well as bring solutions to Avenida República de Colombia.

According to Ascenció, the ministry he heads will continue work to correct vehicular traffic problems on the section of Avenida 27 de Febrero, between Plaza de la Bandera and Avenida Isabel Aguiar.

During a talk at the facilities of the College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA), the head of Public Works also referred to some works for accessibility in the province of Santiago.

Among the projects for the Cor City, he mentioned the extension of the North Ring Road, completion of the Tourist Road, modernization of the Duarte Highway, construction of the Navarrete Ring Road and the Amber Highway .
