Russian President Vladimir Putin now says he will receive the coronavirus vaccine from his country Sputnik V, a month after saying he would not be injected.
A Kremlin spokesman told Russian state television the reversal.
“He made that decision and hoped that all the paperwork would be completed,” Dmitry Peskov said.
The 68-year-old leader has worked remotely and has largely avoided traveling since the beginning of the pandemic. He said one of his daughters took part in the clinical trial of the Sputnik V vaccine, which the country claims is more than 90% effective, and which later felt good.
Russians over the age of 60 may begin requesting gunfire on Monday, a day after health officials approved the vaccine for seniors after an independent trial.
Russia has about 2.8 million cases of coronavirus and about 49,000 deaths from the virus, according to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
