TEMPE, Arizona. – Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will play the season finale to win or go home against the Los Angeles Rams, he said Wednesday.
Murray suffered a lower leg injury from last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, which called into question his condition for Sunday’s game.
Earlier this week, coach Kliff Kingsbury had “hoped” to play Murray. The second-year quarterback raised any doubts during his weekly video conference with reporters.
“Yeah, I’ll play,” Murray said.
In his first comments since the injury, Murray said he felt “okay” and was hit in the “right spot” on his right leg by 49ers defensive back Alex Barrett.
If the Cardinals win the Rams, they will make the playoffs for the first time since 2015, when they went to the NFC Championship. If they lose, the Cardinals will finish the season 8-8.
This is the first game of winning or winning at home in Murray’s short career in the NFL, and he led the current rookie of the year to say “the game is different.”
“There’s no retention,” Murray said. “We lose, I’ll be home, shivering. My leg, I’m fine.”
