The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) filed this Sunday the formal indictment against the former Minister of Security, Mauricio Ramírez Landaverde, and other former officials of this State portfolio accused of alleged acts of corruption in the Directorate General of Penitentiary Centers.
The request was presented to the Sixth Magistrate’s Court of San Salvador, where police transferred the former officials this Sunday morning to be notified of the charges attributed to them as arbitrary acts, embezzlement, improper bribery and forgery. The prosecution has requested that the case be moved to the pre-trial detention phase, while the suspects are being prosecuted.

Although tax investigations initially pointed out that the detainees had diverted about $ 14 million in the period in which Asocambio operated with the administration of the penitentiary stores, the prosecutor in the case clarified that the amount will be determined during the trial phase. instruction.

Ramirez Landaverde is charged with the crimes of arbitrary acts and embezzlement, the prosecutor added.
Others arrested, according to the FGR, are the former Deputy Minister of Justice and Security, Raúl Antonio López; the former director of Penitentiary Centers, commissioner Marc Tulio Lima, and the former executive director general of the Ministry of Justice, Luis Alonso Barrera; as well as the former Director and Deputy Legal Director of the State Portfolio, José Roberto Nochez and Sergio Ernesto Noies.
