Rams quarterbacks Jared Goff and John Wolford are expected to have an open competition for starting work next season if the two remain on the roster, according to Ian NFL Network Report.
Goff, 26, has been the Rams ’starting quarterback for the past four years and has led the team to a Super Bowl appearance during the 2018 season. Wolford, 25, has been with the Rams as a copy of security since he signed in April 2019.
Wolford began his first outing in the Los Angeles win in Week 17 over the Cardinals on Jan. 9, while Goff was recovering from thumb surgery. He was also named a wildcard round holder, but left early due to a neck injury.
In his Week 17 victory, Wolford recorded 231 passing yards and 56 running yards with an interception.
According to reports, the Rams “liked what they saw” Wolford during the time he played and liked what he has shown on the training ground, for Rapoport.
As for a possible Goff trade, Rams’ GM, Les Snead, left his options open.
“What I can say is that Jared Goff is a Ram right now,” Snead said Tuesday. “It is too early to speculate about the future. This is a beautiful mystery. “
Goff has recorded 45 total wins, including three playoff wins, during his last four seasons with the Rams. This is the second NFL spot behind Tom Brady (55). It is contracted until 2024.
